Discover the Lakefront South Hero Retreat, a spacious, pet-friendly home in South Hero, Vermont, designed for family vacations, couples’ trips, and weekends with friends. Set in the heart of the Champlain Islands, this home provides an abundance of space to relax and play while keeping you within walking distance of local restaurants, shops, and scenic walking paths.

The home is configured with 4 bedrooms and 4 beds, comfortably accommodating up to 10 guests across 3 bathrooms. The sleeping arrangements include a primary upstairs bedroom with a king bed and ensuite bathroom featuring a lake view, two downstairs bedrooms each with a queen bed and lake view, and an open bunk-style room downstairs equipped with one queen bed and two twin beds.

Outdoor living is a highlight of this property. A large, fenced-in backyard leads directly to the lake, offering a safe area for children and dogs to play, complete with badminton and two hammocks. A spacious waterfront deck serves as a natural gathering place, featuring outdoor seating, a grill, and a private hot tub overlooking Lake Champlain. Guests can enjoy a seasonal private dock for swimming and fishing, or use the available tender for access to a moored boat on the provided hazelett mooring (life jackets must be provided by guests). The experience is rounded out with a private outdoor shower and an outdoor cauldron for cooking and s’mores under the Vermont sky.

Inside, screened windows invite the Vermont breeze and frame beautiful lake views. The interior features a fully equipped kitchen, spacious living and dining areas, and board games for relaxed evenings. For those traveling with children, the home provides a Pack ’n Play, high chair, baby gate, and rocking chair. Pet owners will appreciate the available large dog crate. Comfort is maintained via laundry facilities, an upstairs mini-split air conditioning unit, and various fans in the downstairs sleeping areas.

Located in a peaceful island setting, you are approximately 30 minutes from Burlington, 1.5 hours from Montreal, and within an hour of several Vermont ski areas. This retreat is available year-round for summer vacations, fall foliage trips, winter ski weekends, or spring escapes.
