You’ll be staying in someone’s home, so please treat it with care and respect.
COZY FIRES: Nothing beats a crackling fire in a historic home! The fireplaces are ready for you from October 1st through May, and you’ll find a Duraflame log waiting by the hearth. Please burn only the logs we provide, and no other wood, paper, or materials. Before lighting a fire, always make sure the flue is open, as smoke damage is very costly to repair. If you’re unsure how to open it or would like a hand, just message us and Paul will be happy to help. FIRE PIT: Evenings by the fire pit are one of our favorite things here! You'll find a bucket beside the fire pit. Please fill it with water from the kitchen sink before you light the fire, so it's ready when you need it. For everyone's safety, never leave the fire unattended, and keep it a manageable size. When you're done for the night, drown it fully with water and stir the ashes until they're cool to the touch. SOUNDS OF AN OLD HOUSE: Part of the charm of staying in a historic home is that sound travels, from creaky floorboards to voices drifting down the hall. Other guests may be staying in the house too, so we kindly ask everyone to keep TV volume and conversations at a gentle level. A little consideration goes a long way toward a restful stay for all. A SWEET SECRET: For guests who’ve read this far, message us “APPLE PIE,” and we’ll have homemade apple pie waiting for your arrival. We’d also be grateful if you’d share these notes if you're traveling with a 1st mate. OUR HOME TO YOURS: This historic home has welcomed travelers for over two centuries, and now it's your turn. Settle in, make yourselves comfortable, and treat her kindly so she can keep welcoming guests for years to come.
Kindly message Debbie that you've locked up, so I can notify my wonderful cleaners :-) ** Most importantly, if traveling with others, give them a squeeze and tell them that your time together will always be remembered, and ask who will contact Debbie to rebook for next year or sooner! Lol :-D **
