Discover a remote and secluded retreat at M’walimu, a unique hillside sanctuary located at High Hope Ranch in Glen Rose, Texas. Named for the Swahili word for "Teacher," this peaceful escape is designed for those seeking to unwind and reconnect with nature, host large family gatherings, or find solitude away from busy city life.
The property consists of two distinct dwellings connected by a covered outdoor breezeway. The layout features 4 bedrooms, 4 beds, and 4 bathrooms, comfortably accommodating up to 8 guests. The main house contains a primary suite with a sunny library, private desk, king-sized bed, and a large bathroom featuring a meditation bay and walk-in shower. A second upstairs bedroom offers two double beds and a private work nook. The second dwelling, known as the "Sanctuary," features two bedrooms each with a queen bed, spacious closets, and private baths with walk-in showers, separated by elegant Japanese-style wood and opaque glass sliding doors.
Between the two houses lies an expansive outdoor deck and a private pool with sweeping views of the hill country valley. The main house provides a well-equipped kitchen with a dining table for 10, a living room filled with art and books, a Roku TV, and a cozy wood-burning stove. The Sanctuary offers an all-glass west-facing wall, a comfortable living room, and a small kitchenette equipped with two mini-fridges, a microwave, toaster oven, and a coffee cart. For those who love to read, the property boasts multiple expansive libraries, including an upstairs loft in the Sanctuary.
Located on a stunning 900-acre ranch, guests have access to over 20 miles of hiking trails and landmarks such as the Stone Circle, Star Pad, Goat Cave, and Sunset Cliff. You can visit the on-site Farm Store (Friday 3:30pm-5:00pm and Sunday 10:00am-3:00pm) for organic, ranch-raised meats and preserves. Please be aware that livestock, including cattle, chickens, pigs, goats, and friendly ranch dogs, roam the property. Guests should also remain mindful of native Texas wildlife, including deer, wild birds, and local snakes.
