Welcome to Adobe Vista, a unique retreat in Alpine, Texas, where you can experience the warmth of an adobe hug. Nestled on the slope of 'A Mountain', this home offers commanding views of Sul Ross State University and the surrounding landscape, blending comfort with the raw beauty of the desert.
This home is a true labor of love, handmade in 2002 by the Peters family. To create this sanctuary, the family produced 180 adobe bricks daily on-site using local ranch dirt, gravel, cement, and water. Each of the 3,000 bricks was carefully tamped, dried under the Big Bend sun, and laid by hand. You will notice the walls feature alternating brick sides for added stability, and because of the cement mix, the adobe remains exposed both inside and outside, allowing guests to enjoy the earthly and immense texture of the 18-inch thick mother earth walls. Originally built for the family's daughters to live in during their time at Sul Ross State University, the home continues to provide a profound feeling of comfort and peace.
