Discover the Wapiti Retreat, a spectacular 7-bedroom log home nestled adjacent to Routt National Forest and the Zirkel Wilderness in Walden, Colorado. Built in 1983-84 by Horace & Dorothy Marrs, this spacious lodge offers an ideal setting for small weddings, family gatherings, and friend reunions surrounded by breathtaking mountain views.

This impressive retreat accommodates up to 15 guests across seven uniquely themed bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms. The sleeping arrangements include six twin beds, three queen beds, and one king bed, plus a queen sleeper couch in the family room. The Deer Bedroom occupies the entire loft with twin beds and commanding views east and west. The Elk Bedroom features a king bed with an enormous picture window showcasing amazing southwest views. The Fox and Bear bedrooms each offer queen beds with spectacular western mountain vistas, sharing a bathroom with convenient half-bath access. The Duck room doubles as a library with a queen futon, while the Moose room provides twin XL beds near the downstairs shower. The Beaver room features twin bunk beds perfect for younger guests.

Spectacular views stretch from Rabbit Ears Peak to the south, the Park Range extending north, and the Medicine Bow Mountains including the Rawah and Never Summer ranges to the east. The main floor boasts a fully equipped kitchen with gas range, dishwasher, and all necessary cookware, plus two dining areas with panoramic valley views. The lower level features a large family recreation room with pool table and 42-inch TV, serving as both a staging area for outdoor adventures and social gatherings.

Step outside to access private hiking, biking, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing trails directly from your door. The Elk Run Trail leads into Routt National Forest, while the summer-exclusive Narnia Trail takes you to twin waterfalls on the Roaring Ditch. With over 60 trails and 70 lakes in the Zirkel Wilderness nearby, outdoor enthusiasts will find endless exploration opportunities on the 270-acre property.

This remarkable location is home to moose, elk, deer, pronghorn, bear, wolf, fox, and numerous bird species. The property includes a fire pit, outdoor dining area, gas BBQ grill, and private patio overlooking warm water ponds. Modern amenities ensure comfort with WiFi, dedicated workspace, indoor fireplace, and full kitchen facilities.

Check-in is at 3:00 PM and check-out at 12:00 PM. Pets are welcome with close supervision due to abundant wildlife. Four-wheel drive or all-wheel drive vehicles are preferred for winter travel. Free parking is provided on premises, with separate recreational parking available before check-in and after checkout.
