Welcome to Zukaland Lakehouse!
These rules are here to keep everyone safe, comfortable, and happy. By booking and staying with us, you agree to follow the rules below.
- Booking, Guests & Pricing
Base price covers lodging only for up to 10 registered guests.
Maximum occupancy: 16 guests.
Additional guests (over 10): $50 per guest per night.
Only registered guests are allowed on the property.
No unapproved visitors.
Guests are responsible for reviewing the full listing description prior to booking.
Any amenities not explicitly included in the listing or booking confirmation are not provided unless pre-arranged as an optional add-on.
Complaints regarding amenities not included in the booking are not permitted.
- Registration Form & Liability Waiver (Required)
All guests must complete the online registration form shared after booking.
The form is used to:
Register all guests
Select optional add-ons
Sign the liability waiver
By staying at Zukaland, guests agree to waive any liability against the host for:
Use of amenities (hot tub, sauna, dock, watercraft, fire pits, BBQ, etc.)
Water activities and swimming
Wildlife encounters
Slips, falls, injuries, or accidents
All activities are undertaken at your own risk.
- Professional Hosting & Optional Experiences
This stay is part of Zukaland, a professionally managed nature retreat offering curated experiences.
The accommodation rate includes lodging only.
Optional experiences—such as wood-fired cedar hot tub and sauna experiences (where available), curated activities, watercraft upgrades, and celebration packages—are not included in the accommodation rate and are offered at an additional cost, billed separately and directly by the owner.
Details, pricing, availability, and booking instructions for optional experiences are outlined in “Other things to note” and in the online registration form shared after booking.
- Optional Add-Ons (Hot Tub & Sauna)
The wood-fired cedar hot tub and sauna are not included in the base price, and billed separately and directly by the owner.
They must be requested and pre-arranged in advance.
Unauthorized use is strictly prohibited.
These amenities require:
Fresh water fill
Wood heating
24+ hours of preparation
Use is at your own risk.
Guests with medical conditions should not use these facilities.
- No Drugs, No Parties
No drugs of any kind are permitted on the property.
Events are allowed (birthdays, family gatherings, retreats, etc.).
Parties are not allowed.
No DJ-style events, raves, or uncontrolled gatherings.
- Noise & Respect for Neighbors
Quiet hours: 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM.
No outdoor loud music during quiet hours.
No amplifiers on the rooftop or by the lake at any time.
Please keep general noise levels respectful at all times.
- Smoking
No smoking inside the house.
Smoking is allowed outdoors only, using ashtrays.
Cigarette butts must be disposed of properly.
- Fire Safety
Fires are allowed only in designated fire pits.
Follow all local fire bans and by-laws.
Never leave a fire unattended.
- Septic System (Very Important)
Do NOT flush:
Feminine products
Baby wipes
Paper towels
Tissues
Diapers
Anything except toilet paper
Septic damage = charged to guest.
- Garbage, Recycling & Wildlife
Please do not leave garbage outside, as it attracts wildlife and creates safety risks.
During your stay, place all garbage in the bear-proof bin by the fence and lock the lid securely.
Upon checkout, all garbage must be taken to the local landfill unless disposal is pre-arranged with the host.
Local landfill: 1052 Beiers Rd, Kilworthy, ON P0E 1G0 (just before Highway 11)
Open daily until 4:30 PM
Accepts up to 2 garbage bags per vehicle, plus unlimited recycling and organics
If asked, kindly mention you are coming from Kilworthy
If self-disposal is not possible, this must be pre-arranged in advance.
Any garbage left behind will be charged $25 per bag.
Please separate and dispose of recycling and organics responsibly.
- Parking & Boats
Park only:
In the gravel area on the Lakehouse property and/or by the blue shed
Within 30 ft of the front entrance
No parking on lawns, septic beds, or neighbor driveways.
Boat docking must be pre-arranged.
Please do not use neighboring docks.
- Water Activities & Shoreline Safety
Complimentary kayaks and canoe are available.
Life jackets must be worn at all times while on the water.
No diving.
Children must be supervised at all times.
Use the dock or smooth entry point only.
Guests assume all risks related to water use.
Motor boats or powered watercraft (if available) are offered at an additional cost and must be pre-arranged with the owner.
Please be mindful of slippery rocks along the shoreline and respect the presence of wildlife.
- Pets
Pets must be pre-approved.
Pet fee: $50.
Owners must clean up after pets.
Owners are responsible for any damage or extra cleaning.
- Furniture, BBQ & Dishwasher
Do not rearrange furniture.
Return any moved indoor or outdoor furniture to its place.
Clean BBQ after use.
Rinse dishes before loading the dishwasher.
No food leftovers on dishes.
Use the 1-hour (60-minute) cycle only.
- Security, Cameras & Wi-Fi
Do not tamper with:
Security cameras
Wi-Fi router or connections
Any interference = immediate termination of stay and loss of deposit.
- Lost & Left-Behind Items
Items left behind will be disposed of after 7 days unless claimed.
Mailing service:
$50 handling fee
Plus actual postage cost
- Prompt Communication & Issues
Please report any issues, damages, or concerns immediately during your stay.
We are happy to address problems in real time when notified promptly.
Refunds or compensation for concerns reported after checkout cannot be accommodated.
- Security Deposit
A $1,000 refundable security deposit will be held on your card.
The hold may be placed up to 2 days before checkout.
The deposit is released after your stay, subject to inspection.

Damage
Excessive cleaning
Unauthorized amenity use
- Checkout & Departure Guidelines
To help us prepare the Lakehouse for the next guests and keep cleaning fees fair for everyone, we kindly ask that you follow these simple checkout steps:
Towels & Bathrobes
Please place all used towels and bathrobes neatly in the bathtub.
Bedding
Please strip all used bedding, including:
Pillowcases
Sheets
Duvet covers
Leave them folded or piled on each bed.
Kindly leave all mattress and pillow protectors on.
Dishes & Dishwasher
Please pre-rinse all dishes so they are free of food scraps.
Load all used dishes into the dishwasher.
Run the 60-minute (1-hour) cycle before departure.
Garbage & Recycling
Please take all trash with you to the local landfill (see Section 10).
Separate recycling and organics.
Any garbage left behind will result in additional fees of $25 per bag.
Watercraft
If you used any kayaks or the canoe, please return them to their designated rack or original place.
Furniture
If any furniture (indoors or outdoors) was moved, please return everything to its original position.
Windows & Doors
Before leaving, please ensure:
All windows on all levels are fully closed and lights shut off
All outside doors (boathouse, rooftop, front door) are locked securely
