Step back in time at "Darla," an all-original 1955 travel trailer nestled in a private camping spot just 6 miles from Mt. Rainier National Park! This beautiful vintage retreat offers the perfect base for your mountain adventures while being within walking distance of Ashford's restaurants and shops.
This charming one-bedroom trailer features one cozy bed (slightly larger than a twin - perfect for snuggling!) and access to a custom-made glamping bathroom with hot shower, flush toilet, and sink. The authentic 1955 design transports you instantly back in time with wood-paneled walls, cozy lighting, vintage dinette, and original icebox.
Darla comes equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay: kitchenette with running potable water and outdoor camp stove, flannel sheets with down comforter, French Press coffee maker with fresh-ground coffee, and high-end Beekman 1802 bath products. Enjoy your own private section of the property surrounded by tall trees on three sides, with a large south-facing lawn and gorgeous old-growth maple tree providing afternoon shade.
Outdoor amenities include private patio with sturdy picnic table, hammock strung between spruce trees, lounge chairs, propane fire pit for evening s'mores, and gas BBQ grill. Access the shared hot tub located in a private wooden gazebo with adjustable string lights - first-come, first-served with one-hour limit to ensure everyone can enjoy.
The property backs up to Ashford County Park's hiking trail network, accessible through a gap in the cedar trees that provide privacy from occasional hikers. Free driveway parking brings you right up to the trailer, with additional street parking available.
Located at the edge of Ashford, you can easily walk to BaseCamp Bar and Grill next door for burgers, pizza, and craft beer (closes at 7 PM), or grab ice from Ashford Grocery across the street for the vintage icebox. The property is part of the historic Ashford Lodge, an old bed and breakfast being transformed into a fun mountain retreat.
Check-in is 4:00 PM to 2:00 AM via lockbox, check-out by 11:00 AM. Note that WiFi doesn't reach the trailer (available in the guest gazebo), and cell service varies by carrier (T-Mobile works best). The icebox requires ice blocks for cooling, so bring a separate cooler for larger food storage needs.
Experience authentic vintage camping with modern comfort at this secluded mountain retreat - your gateway to Mt. Rainier National Park adventures!
