About Property

Experience a piece of Bryce Resort's history at Shenandoah Sky House, a charmingly quirky mountain home located in Basye, Virginia. Originally owned by Pete Brice, the visionary behind Bryce Resort, this residence embodies his unique personality and offers a serene escape close to the beauty of Lake Laura.

This spacious retreat is designed to comfortably accommodate up to 6 guests across 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. The sleeping arrangements include two bedrooms with queen beds on the upper level and one bedroom with a full/double bed on the main level. The home's layout is thoughtfully distributed across three floors, featuring elegant south-facing windows that overlook the woods, a backyard stone patio, and a fire pit.

Inside, you will find a blend of whimsical character and modern comforts. The main level boasts a large reading nook with a vaulted, exposed-beam ceiling, as well as a living area with a comfy couch, love seat, and Smart TV. The kitchen pops with knotty-pine cabinets and white modern appliances, featuring a huge U-shaped counter and bar that seats four. For entertainment, the finished basement offers a gaming area with a foosball table, a large Smart TV, and a third full bathroom equipped with a jetted tub and sauna. Unique room details include a private deck accessed via sliding glass doors in one of the top-floor bedrooms and a hidden wet bar masquerading as a closet under the stairs.

While the structured amenities list is currently empty, guests can enjoy the provided room-specific features such as a full-size washer and dryer, two bicycles, and a Weber charcoal barbecue on the patio. The property is situated in a quiet section of Bryce Resort with no through-traffic and minimal light pollution, making it perfect for nighttime stargazing.

Located just a short walk from the Lake Laura hiking trail and 1 mile from the Burn Barrel tavern, Pale Pale Fire Brewing, the Basye Community Store, and Smiley's Ice Cream & mini-golf. It is also 2.5 miles from the main lodge at Bryce Resort.
