Discover the artistic spirit of Northern New Mexico at Georgia O’Keefe’s Cabin, a unique retreat located in San Cristobal. This property sits on the old stomping grounds of one of the twentieth century's greatest artists, who famously painted the towering ponderosa nearby at the DH Lawrence Ranch.
Originally serving as sheepherder’s lodging at the turn of the last century, this furnished 325 sq ft efficiency is part of a duplex. The cozy interior features one bedroom with a queen bed, an armoire, and a wood-fire stove to keep you warm. The layout includes one bathroom with a bath/shower and a well-equipped kitchen.
Nestled on a forty-acre farm, the cottage offers a genuine rural experience where you can hear the rooster crow and the howl of coyotes. To the east, the property faces the stunning Sangre De Cristo Mountains, while the south opens to large fields of corn and pumpkins and an old apple grove where guests are welcome to taste the various apple varieties. Guests can enjoy the open barn with tables and benches—a wonderful place to watch the sunset over the distant mountains—or spend time in the garden with hammocks, outdoor seating, and a barbecue. Animal lovers will delight in meeting Yoda the rescue goat, as well as Albert and Allison the alpacas, and feeding the ranch chickens with table scraps.
For those seeking connection, the property hosts potlucks and dinners, and guests may visit the seasonal Trading Post cafe for breakfast with organic farm volunteers (WWOOFers) for an additional fee.
