Hot Tub Safety & Enjoyment Rules
We want you to have the safest, most relaxing experience possible! Please follow these simple guidelines to keep the hot tub perfect for everyone and respect our community.
Usage & Safety Guidelines
Rinse First: Please take a quick rinse shower before entering the hot tub. This helps keep the salt water pristine and avoids chemical use.
No Glass: Absolutely no glass containers (bottles, cups) in or around the hot tub area. Plastic drinkware is fine!
Capacity Limit: The hot tub is designed to seat 6 people comfortably. Please do not exceed this limit.
Jewelry: Please remove jewelry before entering, as it can be damaged by the water and potentially damage the pump.
Children: Children must be supervised by an adult at all times. No running or jumping near the area.
Health: If you are pregnant or have health conditions (heart disease, high blood pressure), please consult your doctor before use. Limit soaking time to 15-20 minutes at a time.
Covers: Always secure the hot tub cover tightly when you are finished. This keeps the water clean and maintains the heat.
Projector & Entertainment
Gentle Use: Please handle the projector and screen equipment gently. Do not touch the projector lens.
Power Down & Cover: Always power down, unplug, and bring the projector unit inside when you are finished using it and before leaving the area. This protects the equipment from weather and moisture.
Screen Storage: The screen is located on the side of the porch. Please gently lower the screen and lock into place with a hook located on the side of the porch. If you are unsure, please call us! Never leave the screen exposed during heavy wind or rain.
Sound Check: Be mindful of the volume! Keep the audio level low, especially during quiet hours.
Neighbor & Quiet Hours
Quiet Hours: Our neighborhood is peaceful! Please observe quiet hours after 10:00 PM when using the hot tub. Keep voices and music volume low to respect our neighbors.
Footwear: Wear appropriate footwear (sandals/flip-flops) when traveling between the cottage and the hot tub, especially at night.
Host Note: The hot tub is professionally maintained. If you notice any issues with the water clarity or temperature, please contact us immediately!
Hot Tub Rebalancing Fee: Our salt water system requires careful maintenance. A $500 fee will be charged for failure to follow these rules (including, but not limited to, using glass, introducing contaminants like soap/oils, or failure to secure the cover), which requires the water to be fully drained, cleaned, and chemically rebalanced before the next guest.
Hot Tub Use, Indemnity, and Liability Waiver
Acknowledgement of Risk: Renter acknowledges that use of the hot tub carries inherent risks, including but not limited to slips, falls, drowning, physical injury, and aggravation of existing medical conditions, particularly given the often inclement weather and icy conditions that can prevail in Maine.
Assumption of Risk: Renter and all guests voluntarily assume all risks associated with the use of the hot tub, including those detailed in the posted "Hot Tub Safety Rules," which are incorporated herein by reference.
Indemnification and Hold Harmless: The Renter, on behalf of themselves and all accompanying guests, agrees to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Property Owner, their agents, and assigns from and against any and all claims, liabilities, loss, damage, or expense (including reasonable attorney's fees) arising out of or resulting from the use of the hot tub, except in cases of gross negligence or willful misconduct by the Property Owner.
Damage: Renter accepts full responsibility for any damage to the hot tub, cover, adjacent decking, or mechanical systems caused by Renter or Renter’s guests’ misuse, negligence, or failure to follow the posted rules (e.g., introduction of foreign objects, excessive chemical usage, or failure to secure the cover resulting in wind or snow damage). Renter will be billed for all repair and replacement costs.
Maine-Specific Note (Cold Weather): Renter acknowledges the increased danger posed by icy conditions around the hot tub and surrounding surfaces (e.g., stairs, deck, path) during cold weather months in Maine. Guests are required to exercise extreme caution, ensure adequate footwear, and use caution lights if provided. The Owner is not responsible for injuries resulting from slipping on surfaces where salt or sand has been reasonably applied.
