Discover the charm of Downeast Maine at Cottage 12, a cozy retreat located at The Open Hearth Inn in Trenton. This vintage getaway serves as a rustic but private little base camp, perfectly positioned for those looking to explore the wonders of Acadia and beyond.

Designed for comfort and simplicity, this cottage accommodates up to 4 guests. The sleeping arrangements include one king bed and a sleeper sofa, complemented by a full bath with a shower. Inside, the space is equipped for a convenient stay with a mini-fridge, microwave, cook top, pots and pans, a coffee pot, and a television with cable. Guests will also find A/C, a hairdryer, and free Wi-Fi to keep them connected and cool during their visit.

While the cottage provides essential indoor conveniences, guests can also make use of the new communal outdoor kitchen. This shared space features a grill, Blackstone griddle, air fryer, hot plate, and plenty of seating, making it an ideal spot for preparing meals in the fresh Maine air. Please be advised that the hot tub and shared indoor amenities are no longer available.

Situated on Route 3 at the head of Mount Desert Island, the property is a budget-friendly gem located just a mile from the welcome center and the first picnic area in the park. The location is ideal for regional exploration: Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park are within 12 and 9 miles respectively, while the Bass Harbor Head Light is 15 miles away. Other nearby destinations include Southwest Harbor (12 miles), Ellsworth (8 miles), and the Schoodic Peninsula of Acadia National Park (35 miles). For those flying in, the Bar Harbor Hancock County Airport is conveniently located just a half-mile up the road.

We are proud to be a pet-friendly establishment. We welcome your four-legged family members, provided they are kept on a leash in common areas and are not left unattended in the rooms to ensure the quiet enjoyment of all guests. We kindly ask that you pick up all pet waste and help minimize barking. Please note that an additional cleaning fee will be charged if pets cause a mess in the room or on the bedding. Dog treats, extra poo bags, and a water bowl are available in the common room for your convenience.
