Discover the magic of the Kennebec Highlands at the Chalet, a large two-story home hidden within five wooded acres in the Belgrade Lakes Region of Mount Vernon, Maine. Whether you are looking to explore the rugged outdoors or simply chill and listen to the loons, this inviting camp offers a quintessential Maine escape where you can come for vacation and stay for a lifetime.
Designed to sleep seven guests comfortably, the home features a thoughtful layout across two levels. The first floor provides an open kitchen, dining, and living area, alongside two bedrooms and a full bathroom equipped with a washer and dryer. The upper level is dedicated to the master bedroom and a second full bathroom, complemented by a loft that overlooks the living area below. Total sleeping arrangements include 3 bedrooms and 3 beds.
Outside, a large wooden deck wraps around half of the house, providing a serene space to stargaze and watch the animals. The property also includes a detached two-car garage with an unfinished loft above and remote-controlled doors for secure parking.
While the property is situated just across the road from Long Pond, please note that the immediate shoreline is private; the closest public access for swimming, boating, kayaking, or fishing is located a half-mile away at Castle Island Camps, which also offers boat rentals. The Long Pond boat launch is equally convenient. Guests are welcome to use the provided kayak, canoe, and treasured fishing gear found in the locked storage areas.
Located in the heart of nature, you are within a 10-minute drive of Mount Vernon and Belgrade Lakes Village. Over 30 ponds and lakes are within 30 minutes, and the cities of Augusta and Waterville are less than 20 miles away for all your grocery and dining needs. Further exploration leads to the scenic coastal towns of Camden and Rockland, the outlets of Freeport, or the trendy breweries of Portland, all within a reasonable drive.
