About Property

Discover a peaceful retreat at Big Bear, a handicap accessible cabin nestled in the scenic landscapes of Moravia, Iowa. Whether you are seeking a quiet getaway or a gathering spot for friends and family, this property provides a welcoming atmosphere designed for accessibility and comfort.

Designed to accommodate a variety of group sizes, Big Bear is configured as a 2-bedroom, 1-bathroom home that can sleep up to 8 guests. The sleeping arrangements are thoughtfully laid out to maximize space, featuring a queen size bed in the first bedroom and two twin bunk beds in the second bedroom. For additional guests, the living room includes a comfortable queen sleeper sofa. The bathroom is equipped with a convenient tub/shower combo.

For those traveling with a larger party, Big Bear can be rented alongside the Bear Cub cabin, expanding the total capacity to 12 guests under one roof. This unique configuration ensures a balance of community and privacy, as the front porches remain separate while a large deck area allows the entire group to gather together.

Located in the heart of Moravia, the property is a gateway to the breathtaking Rathbun Lake area. As Iowa's second largest lake, Rathbun is surrounded by preserved forested lands, prairies, and wetlands where guests can spot bald eagles, songbirds, and white-tailed deer. Outdoor enthusiasts will appreciate the proximity to boat ramps, campgrounds, and the Honey Creek State Park, which offers hiking trails and camping. For those seeking entertainment, the nearby Honey Creek Resort features a water park and golf course, while the historic downtown districts of Centerville, Albia, and Bloomfield offer charming shops and cultural exploration, including the Mormon Trail.

To ensure a seamless arrival, this property utilizes a keyless entry system. Guests will receive a 4-digit access code via text message a few days prior to arrival. Please note that while there is an office on-site, it is reserved for the cleaning crew and is not used for check-ins.
