 Dubai is fast emerging as one of the best shopping destinations in the world. Almost all the major international brands are available here, often less expensive than even in their country of origin. The shopping malls are conveniently located throughout the city. The sheer variety of goods available in the malls,
souks (souqs) and winding alleys is confusing - gold, electronics, cameras, wrist watches, spices, silk, household appliances, sports goods etc.
Dubai Duty Free
Another major attraction is the Dubai Duty Free at the Dubai International Airport. It is already ranked among the top duty-free operations in the world. As part of the airport's expansion for the new millennium, it will quadruple in size. It is open 24 hours a day and offers a wide variety of products.
High Street Shopping
Dubai's major shopping areas include Al Rigga Road, Karama, Al Dhiyafa Road and Bani Yas Square and the dozens of malls that dot the city. Shopping can be entertaining as well as profitable, and bargaining is very much expected.
Souks (Souqs)
 The souks on both sides of the Creek are attractive not just for their shopping bargains but also as places for the sightseer and photographer. Along the slightly larger lanes of the gold
souk, each shop window is crowded with gold necklaces, rings, bangles, earrings and brooches. There are traditional bakeries where large flat loaves of delicious unleavened bread are available.
Shopping Timings
In Dubai, the shopping hours are normally from 9.00 am to 1.00 pm and 4.00 pm to 9.00 pm. However, most shopping malls also tend to open from 10.00 am to 10.00 pm. Some of the supermarkets stay open until late at night seven days a week, while some remain open 24 hours. Shops close for prayers on Fridays from 11.30 am to 1.30 pm.
