Province of Higher literacy
Khon Kaen is an area where prehistoric communities once thrived and where the first dinosaur fossils were found in Thailand. It has developed into a large and prosperous city of the region with a fascinating cultural heritage. Khon Kaen Province is also home of Thailand's First Olympic Gold Medallist, the 1996 bantam weight Boxing Champion. Located in the heart of Isan, this community was experiencing one of the fastest growth rates in Thailand until the baht was devalued in 1997.
