Sukhothai is considered to be the first true Thai kingdom and the word literally means "Dawn of Happiness". Sukhothai was the capital of Thailand for approximately 120 years. Sukhothai period was the golden era of Thai history. It was an ideal state, a land of plenty, governed by paternal kings who ruled over peaceful, contented citizens. Sukhothai used to export enormous numbers of its pottery products in old time. The sustaining production is still ready to serve the tourists who want both to purchase and to have snapshots on the kilns.
