Thailand - Nakhon Pathom

Nakhon Pathom: Cradle of Dvaravati Civilization
Nakhon Pathom is regarded as the oldest city in Thailand and is host to the 127m, orange-tiled Phra Pathom Chedi, the tallest Buddhist monument in the world. The original monument, now buried within the massive orange-glazed dome, was erected in the 6th century by Theravada Buddhists. Nakhon has been the cradle of the Dvaravati civilization. Generally, it is an area of alluvia plain that is drained by the Tha Chin River. It was well known as a center of cultural development and prosperity.
