Singapore - Money Matters

Changing Money
Money changing services are available at Singapore Changi Airport round the clock and at most banks, hotels and shopping complexes. While licensed moneychangers may give a better rate than most hotels and banks, visitors are advised not to change money with unlicensed operators.

Most banks open from 9.30 AM to 3 PM on weekdays and 9.30 AM to 11.30 AM on Saturdays.

Credit/Charge Cards
Credit and charge cards are widely accepted in Singapore. Hotels, travel agents, retailers, restaurants and even taxi companies these days readily accept international credit and charge cards.

Tipping
While a 'thank you' in cash is always welcome, tipping is not a way of life here in Singapore. It is prohibited at the airport and discouraged in hotels and restaurants where there is a 10% service charge. A tip should only be exercised in instances where the bill does not include a service charge.
