Seychelles - Beaches

Seychelles' beaches rank among the very best in the world. Silver white sands stretch as far as the eye can see - and beyond - encircling the islands like a giant shimmering necklace. To single out the best would be as foolish as it is impossible. Each one seems more perfect than the last. Which beach you choose depends on what you are looking for.

For body surfing, Grand'Anse immediately springs to mind. Its 3-kilometer sweep of white sand and six-foot high waves makes it an ideal spot, but do watch the current. Mahe's most famous beach must surely be Beau Vallon. There are facilities for fishing, sailing, windsurfing, canoeing and from May to November, it offers some of the finest water skiing in the world.

For total relaxation, however, a visit to tranquil Anse a la Mouche is a must. Swimming is safe all year round; though you may simply prefer to watch, the fishermen tend their nets before sampling the latest catch. Now and again, of course, in any tropical paradise it rains. But the great thing is that it's nearly always localized. So if one beach gets rain, the chances are that one just a few miles away will be basking in glorious sun. But one thing is for sure, whatever you want from a beach, you'll find it in the Seychelles.
