Currency
The monetary unit is the Mauritian Rupee (Rs), which is divided into 100 cents
(cs). There are 1-rupee pieces, 5-rupee pieces. 10-rupee pieces, 5, 10, 20, 25, 50 cent-pieces. Notes come in the following denominations: Rs 5, 10, 50, 100, 200, 500 and Rs 1000. Foreign currency notes, drafts, traveler's cheques and other banking instruments, may be imported into Mauritius without restriction.

The following credit cards are negotiable in Mauritius: American Express, Diners, Master Card and Visa.
