Tso-Pema
This is a pilgrimage festival to Rewalsar Lake in Himachal Pradesh. It is particularly important in the year of the Monkey, which falls every 12 years (next occurs in 2004). Literally thousands of Buddhists make the pilgrimage to the lake, and Dalai Lama, the spiritual leader of Buddhists lead the prayers in the monastery, and then completes a circuit of the lake. A very colorful event.

Buddha Jayanthi 
This 'triple blessed festival' celebrates Buddha's birth, enlightenment and attainment of nirvana. Processions of monks carrying sacred scriptures pass through the streets of Gangtok (Sikkim) and other towns. The festival falls on the full moon of the fourth lunar month (late May or early June)

Drukpa Teshi
This festival celebrates the first teaching given by the Buddha. It is held fourth day of the sixth month (August).

Tibetan New year
Celebrations amoung Tibetan communities - Dharamsala.
