Bhagwan Sri Satya Sai Baba
Prasanthi Nilayam or the abode of Peace, which has become the epicenter for intense spiritual vibrations manifesting all over the world is the abode of Bhagavan Sri Satya Sai Baba. He is the most colorful guru that modern India has produced.
Born as Sathya Narayana Raju in a poor but dignified farm home on November 23, 1926, Satya began to show his miraculous powers right from his childhood. When he was fourteen he walked out of his house saying that he has many works to complete and his devotees are waiting for him. He then declared that he was the same Sai Baba of
Shirdi, reincarnated after the latter’s samadhi (death), in 1918.
Baba’s teachings are based on the famous five props of
Satya (truth), Dharma (righteousness), Shanti
(peace), Prema (universal love) and Ahimsa (nonviolence).
The Sathya Sai Seva Organization is a service organization
with a spiritual core and base, founded under the guidance and inspiration of Baba. The first Sai
Centers were started in India as far back as 1965 under the name Sri Sathya Sai Seva Samithi and from 1968 in foreign countries. At present there are around 1600 centers spread over 137 countries.
The unfortunate reality of neglecting the poor at the hospitals prompted Baba to establish the super specialty hospital near Puttaparthi in Andhra Pradesh and the medical care is totally free of cost to all needy people.
On November 21, 1995, the then Prime Minister of India Sri.
P.V. Narasimha Rao ceremonially commissioned the Sri Sathya Sai Water Supply Project which cost 200
crores. Over seven hundred villages of Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh got the -Gift of god water- through the will and touch of the Baba. The concept of ‘service to man is service to god’ was elevated to a new height as never before. The water supply project toy stands as a monument symbolizing Bhagavan Sathya Sai Baba’s message that ‘Unity leads to purity and purity leads to divinity’
"Man must give back to society what one has acquired by use of the knowledge and skills received with the assistance of
society" - Baba.
