Calico
Textile Museum
Appropriately for a city that owes its
prosperity to three threads - cotton, silk
and gold - Ahmedabad has one of the finest
textile uses in the world. Housed in one of
the Gujarat's famous carved-wooden hovels,
the museum displays a magnificent collection
or rare textiles that that date back to the
17th Century. There is also an
excellent reference library on textiles.
Vadodara Museum and
Picture Gallery
Founded by the Gaekwad in 1894, it
has impressive collection on Art and
Archaeology, Natural History, Geology and
Ethnology. The adjoining Art Gallery has a
great collection of European old Masters:
Veronese, Giordano, Zurbaran; some Flemish
and Dutch school paintings; turner and
Constable; a collection of Mughal
miniatures; and valuable palm-leaf
manuscripts of Buddhist and Jain origin.

Singh Museum
This is the royal
collection of art
treasures of old masters like Raphael,
Titian and Murillo as well as modern western
and Indian paintings, Greco-roman exhibits,
Chinese and Japanese art and a large
collection of contemporary Indian art.
How to get there
Air: The nearest airport is at Keshod, 40
Kilometers that is connected with Bombay.
Rail: Chorwad Road railway Station on the
Ahmedabad Veraval line.
Raod: State transport buses and private
luxury coaches connects various centers of
Gujarat. It is situated 393 Kilometers from
Ahmedabad, connected by state transport
buses.
Lock Gate
This is the first of its kind in Gujarat.
The seawater here is impounded by the lock
gates to keep ships afloat during low tide.
This could be seen with special permission.
Watson Museum and Library
Located in the pleasant Jubilee Garden, the
museum is a good introduction to
Saurashtra's cultural heritage.
Tambekarwada
It is famous for its wall paintings
Rashtriya shala
It was founded by Mahatma Gandhi,
which has a center of Patola weaving.
