The Bondla Wild Life Sanctuary is situated 52 kilometers from Panaji and 38 kilometers from Margao. A botanical garden, fenced deer park and a zoo are added attractions. The Cotigao Wild life Sanctuary, established in 1969 to protect a vulnerable area of forest along the Goa-Karnataka border, encompasses 86 sq kilometers of mixed deciduous woodland.

The Bhagavan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary situated at Molem, along the woodland slopes of the Western Ghats, shelters a wide variety of flora and fauna.

The  Salim  Ali Bird Sanctuary is located at the western tip of the island of Chorao along river Mandovi near Panaji. It is covered with mangrove species and spreads over 1.78 sq. kilometers. Varieties of local as well as migratory birds frequent the sanctuary.
