Carnatic music and dance
Chennai is host to the famous Carnatic Music and Dance festival, which takes place from mid-December to mid January. It is considered one of the largest festivals of this type in the world. This festival features some of the country's top classical dancers and musicians. Before the concert and dance performance, there is usually a lecture cum demonstration. Each concert and dance lasts around three hours in the afternoon and evening.
