Andhra Pradesh is located in the southeast of the subcontinent. It is above the state of Tamil Nadu. Other states bordering Andhra Pradesh are Orissa in the north, Karnataka in the west and some parts of Maharashtra in the north and northwest and some parts of Madhya Pradesh in the north. The eastern part of Andhra Pradesh is the costal area flanked by Bay of Bengal. Andhra Pradesh is the fifth largest state in the country in area and in population.
