The state borders in the north with Nepal, in the south with Madhya Pradesh and in the west with Haryana and Himachal Pradesh. The east is flanked by the state, Bihar. Uttar Pradesh can be divided into three major regions namely, (a) the northern mountains, (b) southern hills and plateau, and (c) the Gangetic plains.
