Chhattisgarh, the 26th Indian state was born on Nov. 1, 2000. Chhattisgarh consists if about the third of former Madhya Pradesh geographical area and population. This area boasts 44 per cent of MP’s total forest land. Chhattisgarh is rich in natural resources, mainly minerals, power, and forest products. Revenue from forest products and mining from bauxite, coal and iron ore collects Rs. 300 crore and Rs. 400 crore respectively. The well endowed Baldia mines, numerous power projects, the steel plant at Bhilai and many cement factories will go to Chhattisgarh.
