Lakshadweep lies about 220 to 440 kilometers from the costal city of Cochin. These islands and Cochin are linked by ships, which takes about 18 to 20 hours and by air. Though the land area is very small Lakshadweep is one of the largest territories of our nation considering the area of territorial waters and lagoons. But the irony is that otherwise this is the tiniest territory of India.
