The
Andaman and Nicobar Islands are a veritable Garden of Eden and a
nature – lover's heaven. The clean environment, roads,
greenery as well as the unpolluted fresh air attract all nature
lovers. The tropical rain forests and waters of Bay of Bengal
are the home to a vast collection of plants, animals and marine
life. Topographically the islands are hilly in places fringed
with coconut palm, covered with tropical jungle and interspersed
with flat stretches of crescent shaped beaches. Adventure tours
like trekking, Island camping, snorkeling, SCUBA diving etc. and
other water sports are major attractions.

It is interesting that where the
indigenous population of Andaman & Nicobar Islands came from is unknown. Nevertheless is it worthwhile to probe in to the details of their origin and
existence. The major tribes of Andaman and Nicobar are The Great
Andamanese, the Onges, the Nicobarese, the Nicobarese, the Jarawas and the
Sentinelese.
Almost all the tribes are still living in their old ways and are keeping much distance from the recent settlers.
