Wangala or the 100 Drums festivals is held in the Garo hills in honor of the sun God of fertility, may be from antiquity. Doregata dance and Pomelo dance are the other two-major Garo festivals of pristine rhythm, fun and frolic. The Khasis have the famous colorful Nongkren dance and Shad Suk Mynsiem festival with display of traditional Khasi fineries and also the jovial Hervest dance. Watching them is a lifetime’s experience. The Jaintia tribe is proud of their Behdienkhalm festival where decoration and artistic presentation reign supreme. And Laho dance in traditional bright attire will force you to move to the tune of indigenous ecstatic “Waltz”.
