Shillong
Shillong is Meghalaya’s capital, and   with it’s neighborhood is called “Scotland of the East’. Ward’s Lake, Lady Hydari Park, Bara Bazar, 18-hole Golf Course together with five waterfalls.i.e., Sweet Fall, beadon, Bishop, Elephant and Crinoline are some of the veritable tourist spots in and around Shillong. Cherrapunjee, known to have world’s heaviest rainfall, is only 56 kms, from Shillong, Mawsmai Falls, Dainthelen Falls, Nohkailikai Falls are in the neighborhood of Cheerapunjee.

Nartiang
Nartiang, which is 65 kms from Shillong, was the summer capital of the Jaintia Kings, of sutnga State. Huge monoliths form the striking landmark of the village, said to be crected by Mar Phalyngki, a goliath of yore. The Nartiang menhir measure 27 feet in height above the ground, 6 feet in breath and 2 feet 6 inches in thickness. The monoliths represent the megalithic culture of the Hynniewtrep people. A 500 years old temple of Durga is another attraction at Nartiang.

Syndal
Syndal Village is dotted with a number of caves and caverns, used as hide-outs during war times between Jaintia kings and foreign intruders.
