Kamakhya and Bhubaneswari Temple
The Sakthi temple of mother Goddess Kamakhya situated on the top of Nilachal Hill is eight kilometers from the railway station of Guwahati. The greatest shrine of Tantric Shakthism finds mention in the inscription of Allahabad pillar of Samudragupta. Devotees from all over India converge on this holy place during Ambubachi and Manasala Puja.

Vasistha Ashram
Established by the great sage Vasistha on Sandhyachal Hill, 16 Km from Guwahati is an important place of pilgrimage. Three rivulets Sandhya, Lalitha, and Kanta meet here bestowing the ashram a unique picturesque charm.

Navagraha Temple
The temple of nine planets situated on Chitrachal hill in Guwahati is still today a center of astrological and astronomical research.

Umananda Temple
The great Siva temple situated on the Peacock Island in the middle of Brahmaputra is Guwahati attracts devotees from all over the country during Shiva Ratri.

Hayagriva-Madhab Temple
This temple is 32 Km. from Guwahati; at Hajo, where religions Hinduism, Islam and Buddhism meet. Hayagriva Madhab Temple is an important place of pilgrimage both for Hindus and the Buddhists.

Shivadol
Constructed  by   queen  Madambika,   wife of King Siva Singha of Ashom dynasty, this temple is believed to be the tallest Shiva Temple in India. In this temple, Lord Shiva is worshipped as the presiding deity. It is in the heart of the town Sibsagar. There is a huge tank of the same name where thousands of migratory birds are seen during winter.

Sattras of Majuli
World’s largest river Island Majuli is the seat of several Sattras or Vaishnava Monasteries, established by the great Vaishnava revivalist, Sankardeva. During Ras-yatra several thousand devotees visit this holy Sattras every year.

Batadrawa Sattra and Shrine
14 Km. from Nagaon town, Batadrawa is the birthplace of famous Vaishnava reformer Sankardeva. The shrine is held in high veneration by the Vaishnavas.

Maha Bhairav Temple
Dedicated to Lord Shiva. This ancient Temple in Tezzpur town is regarded as the oldest Shiva Shrine where thousands offer prayers on Shivaratri.

Barpeta Sattra and Kirtanghar
Established by Madhabdeva, the greatest disciple of Sankardeva, this famous Sattra and Kirtanghar (Congregational Prayer Hall) draws Vaishnavas from all over India.

Temple of Lord Shiva
66 kilometers from Silchar town is Bhuban hill where stands the temple of Lord Shiva (Bhubaneswara) said to be built by the Kachari Kings. Shiva Ratri, Doljatra, etc. draw large pilgrims.

Hajo
Hajo, where three religions meet, Hinduism, Islam & Buddhism is 32 Km from Guwahati on the north bank of Brahmputra. It has a number of temples, the chief among them being the temple of Hayagrib Madhab Temple. There is a belief that this temple contains the relic of Lord Buddha. A section of the Buddhists holds that Lord Buddha attained nirvana here. A large number of Bhutias visit this temple every year during the winter season. There is also a mosque built by Pir Giasuddin Aulia and it is also said that it has one-fourth sanctity of Mecca and so it is known as ‘Pua Mecca’.

Madan Kamdev
Barely 40 Km away from the sprawling metropolis of Guwahati, on N.H. 52, Madan Kamdev is an enigma, a mystery, a marvel and in the words of Omar Khyam, “a veil past which I could not see.” Very little is known about the origin of these magnificent archaeological ruins. Written history is almost silent on it, leaving wide room for conjectures and hypotheses. Kamrupa-the ancient name of Assam is believed to have derived its name from the legend that Love God Kama or Madan, after being turned into ashes by an angry “Shiva”, was reborn here. One school believes that Madan was reborn and united to Rati in this tiny hillock.

Institution Of Sattra
A unique feature of Assam Vaishnavism is the sattra institution. Sattras are monasteries, which represent the organizational set-up originally developed to propagate the neo-vaishnava religious and social ideals but which also became the centers for the cultivation and dissemination of all kinds of art and refinement. Some important places of Sattra culture are Majuli, Bardowa, Barpeta, Madhupur etc.

Sikh Gurudwara
The famous Sikh Gurudwara established by the Ninth Sikh Guru Teg Bahadur is held in high veneration by the Sikhs throughout the country.

Dargah of Ajan Pir
The Dargah of Muslim saint Shah Aulia alias Ajan Fakir, who led a Muslim reform movement in Assam, is a revered place of pilgrimage for the Muslims and Hindus alike.
