Western Australia - Perth

Perth the capital city of Western Australia is located on the beautiful Swan River. It is found on the coastal area in the south-west of Western Australia. Named for the beautiful swans found along the river system, it was settled in 1829. Perth's most valuable asset is Kings Park, where 400 hectares of natural bushland has been set aside as a reserve, which overlooks the Swan River. Two thirds is remnant vegetation, which includes many varied flora and fauna. Over 70+ species of birds are recorded. This is a unique reserve so close to a capital city.

Calm, crystal clear waters in secluded beaches and coves, pedestrian-only traffic; Rottnest Island is a ferry ride from the city and home to the unique quokka.

Swan River
It is home to the unique black swans first spotted here over 150 years ago and the day-to-day sporting activities of Perth's aquatically inclined people.

Over 1000 works from the State Art collection are on display, including Australian and international paintings, sculpture, prints, craft and decorative arts. The collection of Aboriginal art is one of the finest in Australia. Complementing the permanent collections are exhibitions from interstate and overseas. A wide range of art books, cards, prints and gifts can be purchased at the Gallery Shop.

Penguin Island
Penguin Island is a delightful island only 45 minutes south of Perth off the Rockingham coast. It gets its name from the colony of little penguins (also known as fairy penguins), which inhabit the island.
