Singapore - Shopping

Page 1 Page 2

Suburban Shopping
Shopping Centre For a unique shopping experience, try heading into the heartlands of Singapore where you will come across everything you need without a brand name or equally hefty price. In fact, you will discover some of the best bargains at where most Singaporeans live, eat and shop. Quite a few suburbs are easily accessible via MRT such as Tampines (Century Square & Tampines Mall), Bishan (Junction 8) and Hurong East (IMM). Or try Changi Village and Sembawang, which offer a certain charm in their relaxed ambience - providing another kind of shopping experience.

Regarded as an expatriate enclave, Holland Village caters invariably to Western tastes. Holland Village Shopping Center, the central figure in the area, offers small boutiques, a supermarket, niche stores and prominent home furnishing outlet, Lim's Arts & Crafts.

Singapore Sling Products
The famous Singapore sling, a cocktail, is featured on coasters, T-shirts and posters at the Raffles Hotel Museum Shop.

Traditional Chinese Medicines
Eastern health remedies have always been a source of interest and curiosity. Try concocting a brew with traditional Chinese herbs that are readily available in the exotic medical halls in Chinese.

Beaded Evening Bags and Hand-Sewn Gowns
Hand-embroidered to perfections, these bags are ideal accessories to eveningwear and can be found at Ms Joaquim Singapore (Millenia Walk and Liat Towers). The eveningwear collection is much influenced by Straits Chinese design, giving it a rather interesting cultural touch.

Chinese Operatic Items
As the main supplier of operatic items, Eng Tiang Huat (River Valley Road) is the place to visit if you want a gift that is different. Merchandise available range from hats to ladies' embroidered vests and from bamboo flutes to Chinese fiddles (Erhu).

Nature's Gifts
At the Singapore Botanic Gardens Visitor Center. The Botanic Garden Shop offers a good selection of natural history books and nature souvenirs/gifts.
