The trip takes you down the extremely desolate, remote and sheer Zanskar gorge with walls rising a few thousand feet out of the river bed, culminating on the mighty Indus river. This, combined with hikes and visits to various gompas in the Ladakh and Zanskar region make this a fascinating trip to the last truly lost horizon of our shrinking planet - Zanskar, the "land of white copper". This run through Grade III/IV rapids enhances the experience of journeying down this otherwise untrekkable gorge.
Fixed departures till September 2002: August 12-25 and August 24 - September 6, 2002. (These expeditions are also tailormade on a minimum of 04 persons)

Itinerary

|
Day 01
Fly Delhi - Leh. Overnight Leh.
Day 02
Leh. Acclimatize and sightseeing. Overnight Leh.
Day 03
Drive Leh - Kargil (180 kms). Overnight Kargil hotel.
Day 04
Drive Kargil - Rangdum (12,000 ft). Camp overnight.
Day 05
Drive Rangdum - Padum. (8hrs). Camp overnight.
Day 06
Visit Karsha gompa. Camp overnight.
Day 07
Raft Padum - Zangla. ( 5hrs; 30 km; Class II). Camp overnight.
Day 08
Raft Zangla - Nyevak. (6hrs; 40km; Class III). Camp overnight.
Day 09
Raft Nyerak - Markha. (5.5hrs; 35 km). Camp overnight.
Day 10
Hike to Kaya and Skiu. Return to camp. (6-7hrs).
Day 11
Raft Markha-Nimu. (3hrs; 25 kms). Camp overnight.
Day 12
Raft Nimu-Saspul. (3hrs; 20 kms). Visit Alchi gompa and drive to Leh. (Two hrs)
Day 13
Leh. Reserved day for flight availability.
Day 14
Flight Leh - Delhi.
