The term mantis is coined according to the name of an insect, the praying mantis, which is a small but striking looking insect found in many parts of the world. Mantis Collection began with two thousand acres of eroded and abused land, a small insignificant piece of valley bushveld and from this grew Shamwari Game Reserve which is now 18 000 hectares and has seen the re-introduction of all the large game that once occurred in the Eastern Cape. Mantis Collection has grown with the addition of Steenberg Hotel in the Cape winelands - the Saxon in Johannesburg - Lake Pleasant Hotel and Spa in Knysna and Sanbona Wildlife Reserve in the Cape. The New addition is Villa Nova in Barbados. They are now host to visitors from all over the world and proudly show them how they have been brought back to the real adventures of wild nature. |
